ignition?David_B 06-09-2003, 04:41 AM Ok this is a noob question but... What are the pros of a ignition system and is it really worth the money? Thanks David jeffseby 06-09-2003, 04:31 PM i am trying to figure out that same question, but i about to recieve a Balaster 2 coil for now, because my idle sucks. But if you do decide to go with a full ignition setup, a profesional install is recomended, and GO ON EBAY..... HXCivic97 06-09-2003, 06:07 PM Basically the ignition system boosts power a little bit by providing a more powerful/longer spark than your standard setup. By doing this, more fuel combusts, creating a more powerful explosion, and therefore more power. Now, is it worth it? Probably not. While you'll see gains from it in almost any application, I don't think it's really worth it until you've done a lot of other stuff to your car. For the money you can do much better... Until you run outta stuff to do. =) HXCivic97 06-09-2003, 06:07 PM Originally posted by jeffseby i am trying to figure out that same question, but i about to recieve a Balaster 2 coil for now, because my idle sucks. Not even for something as trivial as gauge faces. Ever. Nuff said jeffseby 06-09-2003, 06:11 PM correct, ignition is not the first thing you sould do to a car other than maybe a $50 Coil. remember, even the most expensive ignition box system aint going to add NO MORE than 10 HP, if that..... go here, this is good reading.... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t15933.html do other basic mods first. maxspeedhonda 06-09-2003, 08:47 PM HXCivic97 summed it right up. Buying an ignition system would be a huge waste of money. Hondas have EXCEPTIONAL ignition systems stock, you know "if it's not broken, don't fix it". I have a buddy who put a msd system on a 99si that has a 75 shot on it, and he says the only improvment he noticed was that it started quicker. They are nothing more than eye candy for a unmodified car. Once you start pushing some serious numbers, then maybe consider it... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
