Does anybody know how much the stock civic black steel wheels weigh(after taking off the hub caps)? ALso how much of a performence difference would it be if i replaced the stock steel wheels with say ROTA type 15" 12lb wheels? Thanks.

do not get the rotas they are played out as fuck ... get some civic hx rims ... they are 11lbs without tires.

those are tight rims. they would be as light as your stocks maybe lighter. but the rotational drag would be more. so you might lose time on your 1/4 but you will handle better

14in stock civic wheels = 29.5 LBS

Yeah the HX rims make all the difference in the world. My little HX can actually hang (nearly unmodified) with most stock EXs that i've driven against - and i swear its all thanks to the light ass wheels =)

Careful though with them - they chip easy =)

thanks guys. i would think with lighter wheels you would pick up power or atleast unleash some robbed power with 30-35 lbs stock rims and tires compared to what like 18-20lbs with the light weight 12lb rota's. theres got to be some kind of performence enhancment and not just handling. Any thoughts?

well i dont know about you guys......but my 13" stock tires were not helping me at all cause when i started off the line at a light or whatever the would not stop spinning no matter what but now i went to 16" i cant get a wheel at all hardly..........i mean now i can squeel the hell out of them but with the 13" i could smoke 'em enough to fill the inside of the car with smoke, i havent tried that with the new ones simply cause they were 400$ for just the tires so im not tearing them up

candlaudio- this might be the type of tires your running. If your running a softer, better brand of tire of course they are not go to slip compared to the stock tires that come with yourstock 13's.

I'm curious to see if anybody has made a run with stock wheels and then with lighter weels to see if it made a difference, you know cold hard facts:D

HX's and webs are light as hell. The only prob with HX's is that there is no room for a brake upgrade.

well if my calculations are right, then i went from a little over 8 seconds for 0-60 with the stock 13" to somewhere around high 7's to low 8's with the 16". but it wouldnt do any good to try and race though cause my damn 2nd gear grinds like a bitch so i got to get that fixed.......besides the fact that i couldnt really beat anyone any how

real men don't use brakes!

You're partially right though. You can't get a bigger brake kit (that I know of) but you CAN get slotted/cross-drilled rotors and a better caliper. Not as good as a big brake kit, but an improvement....

You know what I meant. Of course you can get cross drilled/slotted. It's not like that alters the size of the rotors.
