I have a 98 cavelier 2.4L..When engine is cold and the colder the outside temp is, the engine runs great with lots of power. but as temperatures rise, there is a huge loss in power. It feels like the computer is retarding the timing. Is there an outside air temp sensor to close to the rad?? need help.

There is an ambient air temp sensor, either in the air box or the snorkle between the box and the throttle body......

Could also be the coolant temp sensor......if the sensor tells the computer the coolant is cold, vehicle will run rich....however if the engine is hot, you want the engine to lean out...

Also, pull the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator......if there is fuel in the line, the regulator has to be replaced.....

Could also have a cat that is clogging as the vehicle heats up.....

Is the CE light on? Been scanned for codes?

Thanks. I have no codes, the cat is new,and no fuel leaks at the regulator. I could check the resistance of air and water temp sensors. What should they be reading??
