hi folks my father in law has a 99 eldorado that keeps overheating. he has had the water pump, thermostat, radiator all replaced and there isnt any water in the oil so we dont think its the heads or gaskets! any ideas on what could be causing this

Not much info here, does it boil over, do the fans come on, has it been pressure tested?

sorry, he said the fans come on and it doesnt boil over just gets real hot. like i mentioned he has had alot of work done on this eldorado and is fresh out of ideas as to what could be causing it to overheat. he paid 3200 for the car and has already put that much into it so we're thinking of cutting bait before we sink anymore money into it. i was just wondering if anyone out there had any ideas or had a similar problem, with all the work hes had done to it it sounds like one of them problems that more then 1 car would have but not all mechanics would have run across!

From your description, and the year of the car, my experience with these cars is that you indeed have a head gasket problem. You wont see water in the oil with these. The best way to find out is to find a shop with a tester to check for hydrocarbons in the coolant. Or you can buy a tester from a parts store. It's a tool that uses a blue colored liquid in it and when the HC's are detected the fluid turns yellow. If that's the case you're looking at around 4k to repair.
