I have a 95 k1500 5.7 with a 3.73 8.5 30 spline open front and rear differencial. Im going to upgrade my axles to either a eaton G80 or a detroit truetrac lsd. I do some off roading, nothing too serious just want a 4x4 where all 4 tires actually spin not just one up front and one in the back. Ive heard the g80 is notorious for going out but is a full locker unlike the lsd detriot truetrac. Just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks

Rear axle: The "10-bolt" 8.5" Gov-Lock is infamous for failure. The 14-bolt, 9.5" version of the Gov-Lock (G-80) is supposedly much more reliable.
Ditch the 10-bolt rear axle, slap in a 14-bolt 9.5". More common as a 3.73 than as a 3.42, which is what I've been looking for for about three years. I see 3.73s all the time, but no 3.42s except in Wisconsin, and that's too damn far to drive to get one.
I'm thinking you're looking for option codes GT4 and G80.
Can't help you on the front axle. Far as I know, GM never installed a locking diff on the front. If both wheels spin, you can't steer. If you steer, the clutches or other locking mechanism is slipping because of the rotational difference of the inside and outside front wheels.

The True Trac does not lock up both sides equally, so it will work in the front axle, still with better results than an open differential.

Ok thanks for the info. So if i found a 14 bolt would i just unbolt my whole rear axle and bolt in the g80? I would like to put a truetrac in the front axle but i dont know how much time and if any special tools are required, thanks for the info
