Hey i have a 95 k1500 5.7 with a GT4 3.73 rear axle and im wondering if there are any gm LSD or locking rear axles i can swap with my GT4 without having to modify anything. Pretty much just unbolt my GT4 axle and bolt on a LSD or locker, thanks

You may already have a limited slip, look at the rpo label should be in the glove box, look for G80. If not the is no simple slip in to put in/add on lsd, the diff assembly must come apart. Or do you mean swapping out the whole axle assy?

Thanks for the reply, i checked my rpo codes and it doesnt have the G80 code i also took off The diff cover to see if mabye the previous owner had swapped it out but its a full slip. I would prefer to swap out the whole axle Assembly and bolt on another LSD or locking gm axle rather than take apart the diff put in a locker myself since ive never done it. It doesnt really matter to me if the other axle is disc or drum just as long as it fits a 16 rim. Btw i have a 8.5 pinion, thanks

when you replace the diff the work required is with the need of repair techs having the knowledge of properly shimming the gears to the correct gear lash.
this is more complicated than changing a spark plug ...
see if you can find a shop that can locate a used G80 diff and install. the G80 does offer greater vehicle control when the road is with traction issues .
remember you must use synthetic 75-90 wt gear oil only...NO ADDITIVES !

Thanks for the info, i knew replacing the diff with a lsd would be a little more Than just pulling the old one out and putting A new one in. So if i take out my whole GT4 axle assembly and put in a used G80 whole axle Assembly will it just bolt up to where my axle is now?

From the same type truck yes, any salvage yard has interchange guides that have that info. If this is 4wd rememeber the ratios must be the same.
