Acadia transmission jerking

My 2009 Acadia has been jerking or skipping for a few months and is getting worse. We have took it to 2 different GMC dealers and they can't find a problem. It seems to happen after the car is drove for 30 minutes or longer and when you are going a steady speed 55-65 and then pull a hill or try to accelerate slowly. On the interstate this past weekend it was awful. It would do it 5-15 times in a row and the rpm hand would be bouncing up and down really fast about 2-3mm. Any suggestions from anyone or has anyone else had this problem? A friend of mine said it could be the spark plug or coils?

Welcome to AF, how many miles, big piece of info missing here. Does the check engine lite flash when this happens?

75k miles the check engine light flashed on and off about 10-12 times then went off and stayed off. Dealer called today said they think one of the coils is bad

Agreed, the flashing cel indicates a dead ignition misfire.

So I took my Acadia to the dealer and they replaced coil #6 back in April and everything was great until this week it started doing the same thing again. My question is should I go ahead and replace the remaining 5 or have them to just replace the one that is bad?

It will not let me send a private message. The service manager at the dealer said this has been a recurrent problem and GM even may offer a recall. They quoted me $850.00 to replace the other 5 coils but I can purchase the coils for 22.00 each. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to replace them myself? Thanks for any help

What was the diagnosed problem and solution to this issue? My 2011 is doing the EXACT same thing.

Please advise!

Thank you!!!

What error code(s) is stored? That will provide a potentially useful clue.

No codes or check engine light...just continues to do the exact same; RPMs jump and fluctuate the longer I drive it at steady speeds of 55+

I own a 2012 Acadia Denali and am having the same problems with the jerking motion. Englewood GMC said it was the coils and they changed two of them. It's still having the same problem two weeks later. Truly thinking about selling the car and getting a Ford Explorer or Jeep Grand Cherokee. How could GMC not step up the plate with this. If it is the torque converter I'm looking at $2000 which it should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

Well... just spent another $500 trying to fix the issue and it did NOT help!!! Any other suggestions are welcome... how about a speed sensor or throttle position sensor?!?

So changes out all the coils didn't fix it?

Looks like it might be the torque converter which is $$$$&

So brought it to my mechanic, Acadia needs a new transmission. He has had several of these problems brought in and all the same thing. Waiting for the transmission to come in to replace.
