Need vintage reference pics of the 'Hippy' 917, Le Mans 1970 #3

Hi Folks,

I recently grabbed an old Fisher Hippy 917 from ebay. Just starting in on the build, but I'm not finding much in the way of original reference pics. I can find quite a few of the restored car here and there at shows, but there seem to be differences between those and the car as it actually appeared at Le Mans in 1970.

Does anyone have a good stash of shots of this car? It will be a curbside, so engine bay is not that important, but interior shots would be great as well as any detail shots of the exterior.

Here's what few I've got so far:

Here are some that I used recently with my Fisher kit.

Beware: the older Fisher decals are so stiff that they are not usable. He apparently refined the decals in later versoins of the kits but they are no longer available.

I was stuck with the unusable ones. I ordered 2 sets of the Colorado decals but these were not satisfactory either. The complex curves at the doors were the worst spots. I had no luck getting the Colorado decals to snuggle down.

I'm planning to strip and redo the model if I can find some of the MFH decals.

Regards, Chuck

Also, MFH is releasing a Joe Honda book on the 917 which will focus on LeMans from 1969, 1970, and 1971. It should have several great shots.

As for the decals, how do you tell if they are the newer or older versions? If you know of a way, I can see if the sets I have are the newer ones. If I have an extra of the newer sheet, I will gladly sale or trade. BTW, the MFH kit is dramaically different in proportions. The wheelbase for one is a few mm's off.

It would be doable to use the MFH decals, but it would take some careful planning and cutting.

The Simeone museum in philly pa. has the car on display all the time. look on there website for some info. They take it out every now and then and race it around the parking lot on there demo days.

Sprite,

Thanks for the shots; of course I should have checked Schlegelmilch; it slipped my mind. I do have an account there, so maybe I can grab those at a slightly higher res.

The decals that came in my kit seem usable and in fairly good condition, although one never knows until one gets down to brass tacks, does one? In any case, I have scanned them and can mail you a high res .jpg file of the scan in case you want to try having them printed somewhere?

Let me know and thanks again,

ianc
