I had to replace the windshield on my cadillac, and it cost me the price of my deductible, $500! I have since switched from State Farm to Farmers insurance. My wife's explorer got a chip in the windshield from a rock, and a small crack, maybe an inch and a half. I called My agent and told him I had to file a claim. He then faxed me a copy of a brochure from Safelite, who replaces glass for them. It said that they can repair a crack that is 6 inches in length, as long as it is not in the drivers view!!! Well, I called them to see if it was some sort of scam tactic, but they said they could fix it. They scheduled to come to my wifes job and fixed it the next day!!! You can barely see where the crack was, and it is warrantied for as long as I have my vehicle!! the best part is it cost $60 bucks to fix instead of me paying my now $250 deductible and Farmers paid the $60 since I saved them from having to file a claim. I didn't find out how much a new explorer windshield would have cost, but I'm sure it would have been $400 or $500! Not to rub anyone's faces in my good fortune. I celebrated by taking my wife to myrtle beach with that $250 I didn't pay this past Memorial Day weekend!! :flash:

Bummer. I've had a windshield replaced just for gravel "pitting" and State Farm only charged me a $50 deductible.
