SOHC vs DOHCfriday86 06-05-2003, 11:21 PM My cousin has a 2002 Civic EX and those have SOHC engines. He went against a 1999 Civic SI that has a DOHC engine. The EX has intake and exhaust and the SI has the same thing. They raced and the EX won... is that right? I was with him when he raced it... 4bngr 06-05-2003, 11:23 PM Hmmm, whoever was driving that Si had no clue what they were doing. The Si should stomp the ex, even with simple bolt ons. Anyone here think otherwise? joejoe3 06-06-2003, 01:06 AM Yes i believe so too, i think is a matter of skill behind the wheels. The DOCH should have beaten the EX. KrNxRaCer00 06-06-2003, 01:09 AM all driver. simple as that. friday86 06-06-2003, 01:37 AM True... B16EJ1 06-06-2003, 01:55 AM It may be all driver but what the hell was the Sidriver doing? Does he only have one arm and one leg? emerge 06-06-2003, 11:34 AM just because you can go out and buy a good car doesnt mean it makes you a good driver... racing is 80% driver... B16EJ1 06-06-2003, 11:54 AM If the driver can make up for 35 more hp then why even swap an engine? In this scenario the case was not that the SOHC driver was that good, it's that the Si driver was sleeping or had one hand in his ass. sageuvagony 06-06-2003, 12:01 PM probably tried shifting with his foot and clutching with his hand and steering with his mouth.. or did he start off like 5 seconds late? did he forget which was the gas peddal?:bloated: edman24 06-06-2003, 10:51 PM probably tried shifting with his foot and clutching with his hand and steering with his mouth.. or did he start off like 5 seconds late? did he forget which was the gas peddal? that has got to be one of the funniest things ive heard in a long time. im still laughing.:frog: CivicSiRacer 06-06-2003, 11:05 PM Also remember the Si and Ex almost have the same torque, but the Si has more hp. The torque is what gets you going. But if someone doesn't know how to shift the Si correctly they will always loose. You gotta drive it like you stole it. 2002Drew 06-12-2003, 12:06 PM Originally posted by 4bngr Hmmm, whoever was driving that Si had no clue what they were doing. With hondas, if they weigh about the same, the hp of the DOHC really dominates. 2002Drew 06-12-2003, 12:08 PM maybe the Si driver was using the patented Upside-down-sunvisor-technique of pushing the clutch in a little and letting it back out a few times in each gear so "it will rev faster, giving more horsepower". Hahahahaha That's about as smart as racing with your trunk open to act like a spoiler. Christ, some people are so stupid, they should have been sterilized at birth. Sounds like he drove it like it was his b/f's car. :D SiRII 06-12-2003, 03:57 PM My Old 95 SOHC use to spank '00 Si DOHC Civics easily. Even GSX's. I wouldn't under estimate the SOHC. You're so full of shit your eyes are brown. Unless you had boost of some sort, I'm raising the flag and this is from a previous D16Z6 owner. :bs: SiRII 06-16-2003, 02:56 PM Originally posted by B16EJ1 :bs: Spank 00 Si's easily and GSX's. Whats so hard to understand about a SOHC beating a DOHC. Even a stock GSX. Most '00 Si owners have full interior, some don't know how to drive, and some are stock motors with minor upgrades. As i stated before. My car is fully gutted. If you didn't take '00 Si's or GSX's with your full interior D16Z6 motor. Then obviously you were lacking power to weight ratio. I even ran a '92-'95 hatch fully gutted with a '00 Si swap. And i hung with him 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. and at 4th he slowly inched away from me. My old SOHC ran very well. I've even took trips to Las Vegas and New Mexico. Doing average speeds of 90 mph, for 1 hr or more. Even at the long stretch of road doing speeds of 130 mph for 1 hr. I can even show you the speeding ticket i got in new mexico if you don't believe me. The highway patrol was pissed. He said he was trying to catch up to me for the past 5 miles. LMFAO. The fine was only $265. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
