99 Window motor swap

Hello all...

I still have the ole 99 sunfire, 4 door, and as far as I can tell I need to swap out the driver door window motor.

I have the door panel off, stuff unplugged...motor in the garage waiting for a day off.

It all works well going down, and just about goes all the way up but stops about 6 inches from the top. Everything looks tight where it should be, rivets in, no unwanted movement and the regulator moves smooth etc etc. Dead spot/under too much load is what my buddy was telling me.?

What I am wondering, and here is where I am looking for the time savings from the experts out there, is do I have to talk out the window all the way? Or tape/hold the window up without removing it (there will be two of us woking on this), take out the regulator or can you loosen one side of it? What are the steps here? Total window removal? I have mixed stories from peeps I work with, one says yes one says no. Prob is neither of their cars were sunfires.

Any help is appreciated.

thanks.

Update -
Ended up being about 3 teeth (guessing) off of the top of the regulator gear.
Motor returned. Too cold now. will try in spring.
