tc and transmission pump info

i got a 95 gmc sierra 350 2wd 4l60e, trans pump went about a year after i baught the truck so got a used trans with no tc and about 3 months later the pump broke on that 1 also. took both pumps apart and they are broken inside. was wondering do i need to change tc and how much fluid does it hold and what would kill the trans pump?
