Was wondering if anybody has attempted this even in the V8? My friend says its easy for this motor in this truck, all you need is a spring compressor and a air compressor with an attachment to drop the cylinder.

I did this on my 90 K1500 with a TBI 350. I was getting a blue puff of smoke on start up when it sat for a few days. On mine, the OE exhaust valve seal was an O ring and I was missing about have of them. I used fel-pro replacements and also replaced the springs at the same time since it had 130K miles and 17 years (at that time). Really not a hard job. I used the spring compressor that attached to the rocker stud.

1) Buy spare valve stem keepers. some are going to get lost during this procedure.
2) Block oil passage holes in heads, so you don't drop valve keepers in the block.
3) Do a TDC on each cylinder under valve stem seal replacement.
4) Use a drinking straw packed with grease to hold valve stem keepers during replacement.
