Well, what I want to do now is a relaxing model.:icon16:
I choosed this BMW cause is a very nice looking and aggressive car.Already collecting some M's, but they are always missing from today's kit manifacturer.
To build up her I will use Scaleauto body and decaldoc decal sheets.
The car in reality looks quite similar to my previous model about the M3e92 GTR http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=970232 even if in reality this endurance one is made by Flossman for private customers racing local endurance championship, as this Nracing blue car was (and is, cause still winning).

The gt2 indeed is made directly from BMW Motorsport, dunno really if behind this there are still guys from AC schnitzer making the old glorious winning 635 csi of the 80s. Suspect no anyway.

The model is referred to the first 2010 cars, and during those 2 yrs they had minor differences in body and livery.

The model provided by scaleauto is really welldone. They give nearly half the car, including very nice PE parts and very fine details for half of the interior (dashboard is complete),rollcage looks a little thin to me and the driver figure is simply horrible, even if helmets (2 types) are nice and also have radio set.

the wheel inserts provided are wrong, even if also I will use uncorrect (for the specific car) ones.
Mines will be the 6 spocket wheels used on the ALMS sister car. they came from a Tamiya Nissan Autobacs Nsx

Paolo, I had the same idea some months ago but I don't have anything to show right now. The only thing I decided is to use Tamiya CLK DTM 2000 bottom and interior. The NSX wheels is certainly a good choice.

Seems like a new interesting GT project !! :naughty:
I'm not a fan of track races but GT and LM cars are always nice to see as some of them are pure agressive looking beasts ! :grinyes:

Thank u guys.

Denilson, also I will use the bottom part of an ex-dtm car.Of course is not the same at all, but have a wrecked opel Astra DTM and its wheelbase is nearly identical to this Bmw.Being a curbside model I just will make a moke up for the interior parts, also cause have absolutely nothing (read bmw racing origin) to be used as cockpit base for it.
Dont really wanna become mad after this, must be a fun and relaxing model, u know ;)

The nsx wheels are ok, but will use only same tyre for the rear wheels.front ones are smaller, so will use the same Astra Dtm ones.

Paolo, great topic.
I´m also with you and Denilson on the same project. Buy mine is BMW Art Car
Allow me to show you some progress. Sorry to "invade" your thread...

So far, I did only the bumper and air intakes modifications, plus some minors body updates. Im going to use Welly´s diecast as a donor for the chassi (which is made from plastic) and decal from Decaldoc

There is also another option for a race cockpit base, despite simplified:

I hope u all will build this bmw. it is very easy to do and a stunning piece in collection, even more if u like bavarian racers (I love everything from bavaria, including the fightings at the oktoberfest!).No die cast to breathe,no shitty resin to glue, just thin nice plastic.

@ John : u can today get only the spare body in ebay
http://www.ebay.it/itm/Scaleauto-Karosserie-BMW-M3-GT2-1-24-Weis-als-Kit-/180844510407?pt=Rennbahnen_und_Slotcars&hash=item2a1b2c3cc7

Few bucks for a stunning detailed body. When I get mine this was still not available, and I had a slotshop friend taking it from a complete scaleauto car (85 euro car..):2cents:

Note they also sell already painted and tampo decal bodies (both for motorsport colors and Jeff koons cars).quite expensive and perfect in decal apply/glossy, even if imho a little too bit toysh for our model collections.
http://www.ebay.it/itm/Scaleauto-Karosserie-BMW-M3-GTR-1-24-LeMans-2010-/180885126718?pt=Rennbahnen_und_Slotcars&hash=item2a1d97fe3e

@ Frank : thank u! Mike's pics are always very nice and really "modellistic". Wonder where he took the pics of the car no.25. She is already parked in museum ;) time pass quick for racing cars...

@drago : Nice choiche for Jeff Koon's artcar! When I saw it the first time (made by mastermodeller Fola Osu in Germany) it was a scary decal processing. I know also scaleauto makes directly this body with tampodecals (so perfect) but unfortunately they keep the standard body without modify the parts as u did.
For the underparts: I made the same as u for the blue italian m3 V8 Gtr,just cause have spare plastic parts left form the die cast.In reality that should be the way to make it, cause flossman simply scrapped and convert a street m3 into race specs, but in modelling way it becomes totally different. The racing m3's have completely flat and closed floor, used to increase the downforce.the weelbase is larger and wider, suspensions and brakes are totally different and...first of all, all the inner cockpit is different, including just only the pilot seat point (more than half meter below the standard streetcar driving point)u can see it clearly in this pic

http://www.scaleproduction.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/IMG_6923.jpg

All this makes it much more similar to a DTM car, and in my case I didnt had any Welly model to destroy again;)
Be careful such plastic is tricky to glue, cause is not standard styrene used in our ordinary plastic models.:eek7:

For me jeff koon's car always will remain "cicciolina's" husband car :iceslolan:iceslolan
One of our most famous Hungarian porno star actress from the 80's....:jerking::jerking:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W4FyxopeesM/TndjZrxRy4I/AAAAAAAADgM/rpF8M9wqlJY/s1600/cicciolina.jpg

@ Robi : Alex Zanardi's car is another chapter.
I deeply love him, knowing the guy for real. I dont mean just hero for the pesonal adventures after lausitzring, I really liked the way he drove, specially when he had the correct car to prove his skill.
I met him when I was truckdriver for Honda Jas motorsport and was an incredible meeting.
Owners of our company didnt like me, cause, being part of their stuff, was 100% alex fan! :D as well as all the company there...
Trying collect all his cars, including the Target chip ganassi cart (wonder why americans didnt wrote at all on revell box cover that was Alex car, and just say jimmy vasser model, even if inside they provide all decals for zanna's livery...)
His car deserve much more details than this anyway nice die cast, that of course, already have ;)

as said wheels are nsx ones, but they must be painted in dark metallyc grey to be correct.

the fitting in the wheel arches is quite perfect, just needs some minor adjustments

just after taking pics I noted I've made the mistake of the 2 red stripes over windshield mountings, used only over car. no 26.
As well as for the wrong wheels I think I will survive with it anyway :headshake . Cannot make the other car even if they did a very good race after a brutal crash. This 25 was the winner ;)

they are very nice printed, but of course (being anyway Alps) very very delicate.
I use to cut theme very carefully, and avoid touch the draw cause the ink comes away quite easy.Sometimes they use a very thin clear film quite easy to cut, other times the film is hard as hell and seems a chewingum when u try take the surplus away.

They remain a great alternative to race cars livery. Some of the last subjects they made are deadly nice as this "team america" chevy corvette:

.... still anyway suspect mine (OUR) way to finish models remains nicer than any prepainted slot one, even if surely more tricky , expensive but without any doubt fun!

so this is the progress with decal applying and some paneling on engraved lines.

http://multiply.com/mu/alsoldatino/image/1:soldatino/photos/173/600x600/39/SDC19457.JPG?et=40ZeWv9itVXj9%2CGcxhYrFg&nmid=489655524

exhaust area was painted and not done with decaldoc decal part. too nicer with oil paints and dry brush effect. In reality is just a real metal plate to save cf underpanel from returning flame brust.

Too nice. great organization and very nice racing stuff on the track:

I do not understand if they improved or not: recently I got some terrible rims and some others very nice, as those BBS in the photos with nearly no imperfection and no need to clean them. They come without tires.

Those ones come from the new Scale Production BBS set, extremely nice.

is ordinary ts+13 with the 3 compound from tamiya (after sanding it with flex-i-grip sandpapers).
Imho is much better than candy coat provided with 2k, even if many inside the forum are too skilled in use that.
Probably its just me not good enough, but I like much more the finish I have with compounds.

Surely one of the biggest issue to fix with this model are trasparent parts and the lights. Here finally I must remember this is NOT an ordinary model, and indeed the fitting fo the clear is terrible (at least in my model. This was not a spare body taken alone, it was a body taken from a smashed car in the box arrived in the shop, that friend owner gave me muchh before they start to sell the body alone).

Also there is a little mistake done by Frank @decaldoc about the rear ADAC label, not fitting the rear window.Anyway also here..;) think I can survive anyway.

The front lightcovers are indeed terrible, mostly cause they have 2 long plastic pins to be placed inside the fake front lamps.I covered the holes with 2 real spotlights coming from 1/43 detail set, and removed the pin from inside light cover survace, taking it glossy and shiny and sanding the 2cmts part inside. The overall look becomes imho much more realistic, as well as some painting tricks are required to make nicer the rear lights.

as said in the beginning I know it Mike.
Will use the wheels from ALMS car, uncorrect for 'ring race, but anyway used on bmw m3gt2.
I absolutely didnt know the final result of it at the beginning, and going on is not so easy build as it seems to me in the beginning (its even a slot and some fitting parts must be checked carefully).
Also decals on fw pillars are my mistake (red was used on car 26only, not the winner 25) as well as the position of the writing on the rear wing, cause decaldoc itself has a size mistake also there, and is too big for the correct lower surface of the aileron.

the model anyway looks great, and is a must for any bmw (not burundi tuning) lover as I am ;)

little update.
I am testing the cockpit. Of course there is nothing for this car, so will reuse a scrapped DTM car.
I also will try to clone some racing recaro seats. always useful for those models. From pics seems she didnt had the Hans.

realy nice build!!!
You`re doing a nice picture job, i wish i could do it half as good like you did!
Awesome build, looking forward to see the finished model :)

Edit: Why is this not a 5 star rating model?? To me it is a 6 star ;)

eheh, thank u Gp.
stars is a forum option, some uses theme other dont.

I personally think the real only 5 stars works are the kinda works as SB, chris capri..the 037.
Mine one is really nothing special, just models I like, mostly curbside.

It is ok anyway, I never cared so much of stars :) prefer live comment by other modellers as here :)

The BMW is on its way to be completed.

I carefully test and test the setup overall look.
This is a critical point in models as this one, whenr nothing more than the body is provided.

The lower part is a tamiya astra Dtm chassis. Choosed this model cause they have nearly the same wheelbase. The rollcage was rebuild in evergreen.

everything is getting dry for some days now.last details as mirros will be added shortly.

Hope u like it ;)

Is the interior white or silver ?

U are right Mike.
Interior is silver, even if in real car should be full white,at least in the roll cage.

Very nice Paolo. You used the rims/wheels of the NSX, right?

lovegt40
02-12-2013, 05:04 PM
yep.
they are very similar to the ones on gt2's cars racing in ALMS and in some presentation pics. Correct rims for adac24h should be BBS.

In Gallery section u can see also the "artistic" ones I always like to do when my models are done, and coming soon the video of the quick build up.
Maybe rammstein soundtrack can be fine for it? ;)
