Hi to all:

After so many years building all type of scale kits both for me and for other people, finally I get the time in order to design and present my own kit, just as I will like a kit should be, and created thinking in the modeller.

So, just now I´m glad to present to all of you my new brand, Layos Design, and its first reference, a Lancia LC1 from the 1982 season at 1/24 scale.

It's composed by metal and resin parts, and also includes photoetched plate and two set of Cartograf decals.

Looks like excellent mastering and casting. I wish you the best of luck. How about a Pegaso Thrill in 1/24th??

Fantastic work. Looks incredible!!!

It's great people being able to create new models, and the most important, share it with the rest of the "normal" modelers.

Without any doubt will be mine :iceslolan

Wow! That's a really nice looking model of an unusual prototype. The white metal castings look really clean. Soon as I've finished the TR250 on the bench I might try that next.

What others do you plan?

Very nice looking kit!! I also want a Pegaso, but I want the 1954 Pan Am car. A Thrill would also be nice, but not to many know what it is unless they Google it. Pegaso cars were as exotic as you could get back in the 1950's with fantastic speciale Italian bodywork and wonderful Spanish motors.

That's just a Tom Meade replica of a P3/4. It was not a ferrari supported project other than the engine from a 250 GT. Some of Tom's spiders were amazing.

Fantastic!!!! I was looking for this car since a long time ago.

The body looks great, and Cartograf decals are brilliant.

You Juan Layos, isn't it? Are you the man who wrote "FAQ - Frecuently Asked Questions about techniques used for painting cars and motorcycles" book? This is the best ever written book about building scale cars and bikes.

I have ordered 3 kits on www.spotmodel.com (a really nice hobby shop). I wait for them.

Thanks!

ahah Tom, :D I knew u liked the pic.:lol2:
U also wellknow it is not really a replica of the racer p4, it was Meade's interpretation of her shape (imho nicer). He was famous and they still remember him in modena searching for scrapped maserati, osca and ferrari parts for his nut creations.
Enzo ferrari loved him soo much and always helped the guy in his nut ideas. He was the only one allowed to take spares from ferrari and maserati ex racing depts.Nobody could do the same, to give his engines to lancia/fiat stratos they made nearly a war with layers.

Tom also was loved in switzerland and milano. Also in alfa corse- Arese they remember him.
Today he lives in California btw, but is not addicted to pc or internet stuff,so is little hard to keep in contact to him(but not impossible, look www.gt40s.com (http://www.gt40s.com) forum..)

The thomassima 2 was seriously damaged in a street crash and is under restauration since some years in Como area. The car is amazing and all handmade in alu sheets and tube frame.Soon will be on the road again.

Italy (the real Italy) still love this fellow and his creations done with heart and passion too much.

Gotta do the LC2!!!! I'd probably buy 10 of them, especially if they're full-detail!

Great job on the LC1. That looks really nicely detailed.

And I second the idea of a LC2 (but not the bodystyle represented in the protar kit ;) )

True, Marco! I just love the shape of that car. One of the most beautiful Grp C cars of all time. Since there hasn't been an "accurate" full detail kit, you'd have a great audience! :) :) :)

Hello,

I received my package yesterday, Thank you!

However I wanted to let you know that the models are not package good enough in their boxes. Both of the kits I received were damaged. The tips of both fins on both models have been busted off. Please see attached pictures. Mr. Layos needs to put more bubble rap or peanuts inside the box so that the kit does not get damaged.

Thank you again,

Derek Collins

Wow Derek, that shouldn't happen for that price. I hope you get replacement bodies. Did the content of the box move when you took it in your hands. If, yes, that is not supposed to happen. My 2 cents.

Best regards,
Lesley

Well I don't generally make a practic of shaking the box like an Xmas gift :grinno: so no I did not realize the contents could shift and move around so much until I actually opened the boxes. There is a thin piece of foam rubber in the bottom of the box along with three small bags of parts. One of those bags in one of my kits was starting to explode and a couple of parts made there way out through a hole and into the bottom of the box. Both bodies were rapped in bubble rap but the bubble rap was not taped up so the bodies just came out of the bubble rap. there was no other packing material inside the boxes so everything could move around quite a bit.

My intent for posting was not to get new castings though that would be nice. The bodies are easily repairable. I was only letting the Spot Model people know so that they could add packing material to any future orders so as to avoid any future damaged models.

As this is a first effort it is a very nice kit and I don't want to take away any profit being made on the kit by demanding a new body casting. If anyone can understand how little money is actually be made on kits like this it is me. People just don't realize how much it cost to make or have made the parts it takes to bring a kit like this to market. I for one would like to see more from this manufacture and that is why I am happy to repair my castings and let them keep the profit so that they can put that money to good use in future kit development. :):):)

Hello, I apologize for that mistake, but as you know transport companies do not care products. You send me your address to layosdesign@gmail.com and I will send you two new pieces,
Thanks for your understanding and I hope you like the rest of the kit

Thank you!! Spot Models has contacted me via email as I sent them an email about this before I posted here. It is nice that they have promised two new body castings but as I said before I am fine to repair what I have. I will leave it to you to decide if you want to send replacement castings anyway and thank you for the wonderful little kit that you have made. I wish you much success on future kits :):)

Hello !
Congratulations, an excellent set of the photo! Very clean casting !
If it's not a secret, a master model is made by hand or print it 3 D?
I also had a problem with damage in transit with my Porsche 959. But now I'm doing a separate packaging ( bubble rap ) body and a bag of parts . And there is no more damage .
And maybe it makes sense , to make on the master model thin (0.3- 0.4 mm) wall for transportation . This is easily removed prior to assembly .

Hi Roman, I'm pretty sure the master for the body was hand made. There are some tell tail signs that it was not made by a 3D printer. It is very nicly done no matter what the method. I must say and I'm happy I bought two of these kits.

I would love to see an LC2 and I'm not particularly fussy over which one. One of the best looking Group C cars ever.
