too bad the ts-030 couldn't keep up their challenge to audi's hybrids in this year's le mans. models of them would be great though :)

Anthony Davidson was actually leading until that Ferrari took him out, would love a Tamiya kit of it though.

I don't think if it's a matter "IF" Tamiya can but if Tamiya "WANTS" to make it. :iceslolan

I wouldn't mind Tamiya making the TS030. Just be prepared for the tons of people that will complain the usual banter of "why they'd build that thing when they could've built...".

This would be awesome. Considering they released the TS020, they should also release the TS030. Would definitely buy it :-). Also somebody should make the Audi R18r and Lola also in plastic.

Best regards,
Lesley

We can only hope Tamiya (anyone?) will give us a new kit of any current LeMans prototype. It's been over a decade since the TS020 was released. The Revell Audi R10 was welcome although not as good as it could have been. Not sure why Revell never released it with '07 & '08 decal variations, could have gotten a little more mileage out of the tooling.

Speaking about Le Mans Prototype, neither big plastic kit makers want to get involved. I think the last release was made by Simil'r with its Pescarolo Judd. And this only was possible because Maxime and Nicolas have good contacts into the Pescarolo Team. This Pescarolo Judd' project was originally developed to reward the team staff (mechanics, pilots and other members; limited edition of 500 pieces) after the 2011 Le Mans team participation. But with a good acceptation of this kit from modelers in their website, they resolved to include it in the catalogue. I suppose that with this excellent relationship with Pescarolo Team, they have a good chance to develop other cars, for example, the new Pescarolo Dome S 102.5. :iceslolan

I only created this topic because I can't believe that Tamiya can lose this oportunity to get out of the motorsport limbo. I can't remember from the last new tooling from Tamiya in motorsport. In the past Tamiya had a very good relationship with the TTE (Toyota Motorsport), and they released a lot of Toyota racing cars. Recently they released the new FT86, and I hope that Tamiya could improve their catalogue with others new tooling, and stop reissuing old kits.:banghead:

Tamiya is no longer a plastic model manufacturer, but it has become a R/C manufacturer with a side business like tools, supplies, and plastic kits, so R/C is highly likely, but I don't think 1/24 plastic kit of any subject is a missed opportunity for them.
They modified the 1/12 Enzo tools, and released the brand-new 86/BRZ this year, so I'll be surprised if they have any budget left for a brand-new car kit in the remainder of this year, and even if they do, don't you think the HSV be a better pick for decal variations?

I think it's more likely for Fujimi to release a simplified curbside kit with a bathtub interior and no engine details for 5000 yen, but I have another idea.

I think this can be a perfect opportunity for Hasegawa to return to sports prototype kits. They can even seek for being an OEM supplier to Revell Germany for affordable price and better market accessibility because prototype and GT cars are relatively European subjects.

having worked for Esci company in the 80's I still remember quite well such reality, and was totally diffrent than today.Company WANTED model manifacturers to create the little replica of their work, so all was happy to cooperate providing informations and pictures (and believe me,when u look at pictures u cant stole soo much racing secrets to win the competitions...).
Bburago was located in a small village near milano named Burago Molgora, and car manifacturers sent there the pre serie or the prototypes of the real car for many days to be studied, pictured, and unassembled.

Today all is different, all is fucking internet, all must be asked with authorizations, royalty, lawers...and the result is just this.
If u like nice wing cars as lm protos, better u start buy plasticard and metal putty and try to make it yourself.
it is possible all the last racing ferrari gt dont exixst as a "normal" plastic model kit?We can only hope small new company with friendships create secondary cars (surely not winning) that we see in tv racing for 10 minutes around position 10...
Wasnt last le mans the famous battle between colossus Audi and Peugeot?..ok lets build up the pescarolo then....LOL

Probably yes. They anyway exist as RC models or die cast ready to play (very nice, honestly).
Probably this is simply what market asks, and the problem is only for modellers as us.

Plastic kit of the TS030? Nice pipe dream.
Most probably there will be a Studio 27 and a Profil24, multimedia kits, and that's it.

Too bad that with the value of the Yen vs the Dollar is that Studio 27 kits have become absurdly overpriced here for what you get. Granted they are nice kits but I have to draw the line somewhere.
