Hello guys,

a couple of years ago I found this kit at the Jabbeke (Belgium) model show. Bought it out of curiosity because it's really exotic. Have never even heard of it before then. Anyway, I put it on the shelf when I returned home from Belgium. There it collected dust, until we decided earlier this year that we want to built salt lake racers as a club build for our annual show in Frankfurt.

A picture of the box. The Fujimi Art.Nr. is RS-13

If built OOB it looks like that:

And that's the real thing:

The kit has only a few parts, as many Fujimi kits from that period. But - the parts are designed cleverly and parts fit is rather good. They even added tubing for the engine in the kit. The engine is a flat-12 Subaru! I replaced the tubing with real rubber material from ScaleProduction.

The shape of the body is fairly good to resemble a phantom salt lake racer. I didn't change anything, apart from adding a bodykit made from Evergreen.

The body has been sanded and primered...

... and was then shot with silver. This is the base color for...

... the BMW paint I bought some time ago. Supposedly it looks like candy apple red, but I can't think of the name now. Once I started painting, I realized that it covers only very light and to a more yellow/orange hue. Hmm... what now? I decided to give it a try and faded the paint. Kind of reminds me of the old BMW motorcycles from the 70/80's.

And this being a phantom racer, it did need some decals. I sourced some from the leftover decals box and put them on. White decals on the red part, black decals on the yellow/orange/gold part of the body to keep the theme flowing.

More pictures here (http://s936.photobucket.com/albums/ad204/SebastianMotsch/modeling%20plastic/Caspita%20Jiotto%20Bonneville%20Special).

The body has not been clearcoated yet. Actually I hope that it will go on smoothly.

Engine and interior are finished, I just didn't take any pics yet.

Kind regards
Sebastian

PS: the paint looks a bit rough in the pics. This must be caused by photobucket, as they do look normal when I open them in photoshop.

Hope you like it. Updates to come soon...

Very cool. Do I understand you correctly that the kit come with the Subaru flat-12?

Indeed, yes. It's not a fully detailed engine, but a relief type one-piece "assembly". Detail is hmm.... basic. But as you don't really see a lot of it when the body is on, it doesn't really matter and should look fairly convincing.

I'll post pictures of it later today.
