2001 M3 advicebedheadfred4 06-03-2003, 07:55 PM I am about to purchase a 2001 M3 with 19,500 miles. This particular car was built prior to the engine problems that affected some of the 2001s. Nevertheless, are there other potential problems or issues I should be aware of? Any tips to keep it in good shape. I heard that it goes through a lot of engine oil. Should I get an extended warranty. Thanks BlOOe46 06-07-2003, 02:09 AM my advice: dont buy it bedheadfred4 06-07-2003, 06:47 PM How come? Blitzkreig 06-24-2003, 09:39 PM I wouldn't worry about it, BMW recalled all affected cars and replaced the oil pump and main/rod bearings. They also increased the motor warranty to 6yrs 100k miles just to be sure. My car was done about 10k miles ago, and 0 problems (mine never did have any problems though) If you do choose the extended warr. dont forget that they wont have anything to do with the motor failing due to a recall/fact extention, they will require you to have it fixed by bmw warr until the 6/100k is over.
