Hello,
I read the forum for quite time but it will be my first WIP.
I built a few models already, but this will be the first model F1 car.
It will be a model of McLaren MP 4/6 Honda Tamiya 1/12
I start from the engine.
Cut out the individual elements and prepared for painting. I painted the engine block and gearbox.
A little work was with painting the valve covers with the logo of Honda and niches in which are the spark plugs.

Today I finished the driver's seat. What changed is that I cut sticks imitate the upper handle bars, drilled eight holes, and I let the screws and handles that are made of steel wire of 0.5 mm and four bushings.
Added to the upper brackets and eight bushings I added the bottom of the seat belt oversize so that there was a slight mess.

Today I worked on the front and rear shock absorbers.
Since Tamiya dampers were not compatible with the original so filed a new shock absorbers on a lathe.

The valve caps on the lathe sued four electric fittnings (Ø 2.5 mm) of which wires go to the spark plugs.

Monocoque painted semi-gloss black and then a mixture of semi-gloss black with gunmetal and with the further distance of about 30cm and again the black semi-gloss and blend again.
And so I repeated a few times until I came out a satisfactory result.

After careful viewing images from the Internet ,Tamiya Perfect Manual brought out electric cables, not counting the hours spent on the net and looking at photos to make out with cables, but where-where did it.
And so it seems

Today, brake discs and brake calipers.
Two halves of the brake discs CA glue, excess gathered on a lathe.
For a long time I thought about getting a carbon fiber effect.
And so one after backing painted metalizer dark iron and then a dense X-10 gun metal spat irregular periods.
After drying the friction surfaces gently rubbed with sandpaper and painted with a mixture of semi-gloss and gloss clear. Brake calipers painted SM tytanium gold . Between successive stages was wrapping masking tape which I love. : evil:
I added screws, vents and the brake fluid tube connecting the terminals
At the stage of the hub assembly ready rockers will Brembo logo, blades of the pads and the brake hose.

Rims painted a mix of XF-63 german gray and X-18 semi gloss black and the light went on a transparent layer ALC smoke.
Came the valves. Central flange nuts bought in store RC. I had to cross them tap of 2mm to 2.5 mm, and finally painted metal primer and black mate.

It's time to caste and spoilers.
A little tired of making several attempts to obtain the color of Marlboro.
I bought dedicated to McLaren from Zero Paints paint kit which includes Pure White and MP4Red.
Caste painted white and then color was wrapping and masking. Following the surgery I covered in several layers for full coverage dedicated to MP4 Red and unfortunately I found that it was not that color.
Then I painted the clear and did not gave the desired effect. I painted two coats of red fluorescent Gaia.
This is the effect that pleases me and what I wanted to achieve.

Paintjob looks great. You are right about the MP4 red from zero paints. It's not the correct color. I use motip fluo rot/orange(RAL3024), witch is the correct color according to Mclaren. You can order RAL3024 from zero paints also, but it's not a color matched paint.

This color from zero MP4red is too orange. This was a color that does not fit the decals from Tabu Design. For MP4red I painted fluorescent red is just the result I got Marlboro.
Sorry for my English.

Thank for the info Caymen, but is the paint color wrong or the decals color that are wrong? Steve at Hiroboy says he color matches the paint at places like "Goodwood festival of Speed" in the Uk - I'd think he'd have the correct color - I'll email Steve and ask - John

What "red Fluorescent" color did you use?? - Thanks - John

Thanks Caymen - for the paint description - do you know if it is safe for 2K clears? - before I buy it - John
I like to use 2K clears on my kits - also I saw Hiroboy has a "Fluorescent red" paint in their Zero listings on page 11 #ZP1010 - John

Hi guys,
I'm sorry in advance to come in between a discussion. I recently done a game on another forum "Guess the correct MP4 red color" and done some test shots with different paints that are very close to the MP4 red(RAL 3024) and this is the outcome: http://www.f1m.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=18102 . The problem was to get the perfect shot of this color, because it's very difficult to shoot a fluo color. A while ago whit the re-release of the M23 there was a discussion of the correct MP4 fluo red color on another forum. Somebody of the members send a mail to Mclaren and they told him that the correct color is RAL3024. I know this is a color that is difficult to find in a spray can or jar, but i got lucky and found the correct color in a spray can here in Belgium. The Zero Paints MP4 red never looks right to me and that's why i got my search on and found what i was looking for. I hope this helps. Like i say'd here before your color on the MP4/6 looks great. Keep up the good work.
Best regards,
Lesley

Thanks for the addition to the post Lesley - I'm in the USA - not sure if we have RAL paints here in the USA and our postal service will not ship them because they claim it is "hazardous material" - John

Today, complex presentation of the so-called front wing. nose.
All elements of polished
After analyzing the reference photos, I saw that the wings are going tension wires. Therefore could not miss them in my model.
And now pictures of the work.
