I have a 2000 TC Cartier and need to replace the window switch on the driver's side because it sticks in the up or down position. Do I just pry the switch out of the armrest or is there a trick to it? I just ordered a new switch, seems like an easy fix..is it?

Normally the window switches come out pretty easily. There are usually only a couple clips holding it into place which can be taken care of with a flat screwdriver. But if you are unsure you can always look at the new switch you ordered to see how it is held in place. In my opinion this does not require a mechanic but a tiny bit of patience. Good luck.

Ok, I have patience. I need to know how to get the whole drivers side woodgrain piece out to get to the switch. Do I just pop it out with a screwdriver or do I have to take something on the door apart? I don't want to break it, I just got the car.

You can actually take the switch apart and replace the parts going to the drivers side window only.
Find a rear window switch from a doner @ LKQ and swap out the guts.

Use a screwdriver (FLAT) to gently pry the front of the switch plate up- there is a clip that you have to compress, then just lift up the plate, front first. The clip is only plastic, so be gentle! Re-installation is to put the back in first, then snap in the front.
Good Luck!
