...is it just the Accurate Miniatures kit, reboxed???

I can't imagine why Revell would tool up on a whole new kit of that car.

I've wondered the same thing.
Haven't picked up the new one to compare to the old AccurateMinitures one I have hidden in the stash.

Anyone else know?

It is the AM kit. New box, new decals. They bought up remaining stock from AM. No retooling, no second run...if you want it, get it now, it is a one-time deal. It's also cheaper than the AM prices were.

Seems to me when I look at this video that it's the AM-Vette reboxed by Revell.

I picked up the kit the other day and it is in fact the AM kit. It's even molded in the same gray plastic that AM used and comes with the PE frets.

This eBay seller is selling the original AM Grand Sport for US$10 buy-it-now. Only 10 more left. This is a very nice kit. Should I pick up another one?:uhoh:

W/shipping it's $18, I can get the Revell version for less. I'd be wary enough as you cannot see the photoetch in the picture. They were selling lots of 10 of these kits for $80 ($15 shipping), but w/o photoetch and w/o decals.

Wow, I contacted the seller and POLITELY enquired about the PE.......

This was the reply

"NOT PICTURED NOT DESCRIBED NOT INCLUDED AND NO OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM PREVIOUS BUYERS. FOR $10 YOU GET MORE THEN YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Seems a little defensive to me...... and I assume that means that it dosen't include the PE :disappoin

That is funny, but he is right. If this full detail kit was made by a Japanese company they would want $60.00 US for it(with decals and photoetch included).

Well this eBay seller won't tell me the shipping costs until 3 days after I buy it. How the hell would one buy without knowing what it costs?!

That was a rude reply no doubt.

My kit has been shipped and I should get it within a few days. But I really don't expect to see the PE inside. The PE set is needed mostly to make the vents on engine hood and some for seatbelt. Although not difficult to scratch build vents from styrene, it is still better off getting the Revell for peace of mind.

What happened to the PE set? Copper scrap?

Looks to me that AM sold all their Corvette stock and it also looks like not all that stock was made up by complete kits.

I haven seen a lot of complains about the kit's tires in other forums. Looks like if you get a kit with a good set of tires consider yourself a lucky guy.

Hello,

I also bought 2 kits from Ebay from the AM Corvette Grand Sport, received them today.
I live in Belgium, so with postage it's still a good price to me.

But as told in this thread there's no photo-etch with the kit, but 2 vents in the hood are closed? ( on the sides of the scoop, the front intakes are open )
And also the tyres are not that good.

But It's a very nice kit, they are pretty rare here in Europe.

I also got my kit last week. I have to say this is an odd kit, as compared to my other box of AM grand sport. The box is sparkling new but the PE is missing obviously. The engine hood is quite different. The side vents are gone, and the even front vents are different. The instruction manual is in a booklet as opposed to one large piece of paper. The PE shown in the instruction does not look like the PE in my other kit. The tires no longer have the Goodyear marking but is in better rubber material.

I guess this kit belonged to a newer batch before AM went out of business. What a pity.
