I have the opportunity to get a really good deal on a 2001 Montana with only 140000 miles. It does have a problem. Sometimes it wants to take off in 2nd gear. Also the lady said she was told something about a plastic or rubber ring. That is all I know. Does this sound familiar to anyone. Please reply soon. Transmission guy told me it may be a $60 fix or a $400 fix. But he did not say what he thought was wrong.
Also does anyone know how to tell if one has power sliding doors? Will it be obvious?

If this thing is starting in second gear, a code should be set in the transmission, and the shift solenoids should be checked out....
You would have switches in the car if it has power sliding doors(overhead near center of w/s and another switch on the "B" pillar of passenger side(just left of the sliding door) and it would be on the key fob too)...

Well I went ahead and bought the van today. It seems to be fine to me. Time will tell. Also the passenger sliding door is powered. Is the drivers side suppose to be also on this model. It has Onstar and built in DVD system if that matters. Please reply soon.

Nah, I've got a 2001 Montana Ext and only the right door is powered as well. Its was new tech. Predecessors to that like the old Plymouth Voyager tended to just have a single slider on right and a continuous frame on the left. Tended to be low-mid montana no pwr slider, mid single (right) pwr slider, high end double (left and right) pwr slider.
