Hi I know this was posted a while back but I'd rather have newer up to date replies. I want to know what you all consider important factors when buying a car.

I would say the predominant factor for me is initial cost, but all the other factors you listed play a subsequent roll in narrowing down my decision once I've limited myself on the purchase price.

I'm very concerned about maintenance costs - not just the cost of parts, but also how much of it can I do on my own. Plus I want something with good fuel economy that is still fun at least some of the time. I'm not super concerned about performance - that's what my sportbike is for. ;)

#1 for me: Reliability. I want my vehicle to work when I need it to.

#2 Performance. Not necessarily speed or handling, but how well the vehicle performs the mission you need it for.

More of a project, so the more replies the more accurate the results.

I would say initial cost would be determined buy budget. Reliability would be next followed by performance that the buyer preferred.

Here are some points you must have to consider before buying a car - You must have to check Trade-In Value of the car you wants to purchase
You must have to check Interest Rates on Car Loans
If you are buying Used then You have to consider all the Benefits of Buying a Used Car
Evaluated Dealer or Manufacturer Offers Like Rebates or Financing Specials

Determine your affordability.
Choose the right car
Shop for an auto loan
Check your car
Negotiate on the price.

I actually think they are all highly relevant but the one that does stick out is initial cost... i think that one will almost always be of top priority unless money is absolutely NOT an issue...
