looking at new impreza

I've been looking into buying a new vehicle for myself, I live in rural maine, on the coast, so lots of ic, and snow.. both my parents have subarus (99' forester, 98'outback wagon), both are great in the snow, and slush, have never gotten either stuck. was wondering what everyones impression of the new impreza's was I know they are fairly reliable, and AWD is awesome. but i want something a bit sporty with some pep, and holds it's value.. I have looked at the legacy GT thinking they are a bit bigger, and more bang for the buck, but trying to stay away from premium gas if I can.
