Is Profil24 the only company making a kit of this car? I saw this kit on ebay and wanted it badly, but that is way too much money for a kit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Profil24-1-24-Porsche-997-Flying-81-Le-Mans-2011-Studio-27-Tamiya-Top-Studio-/260895647578?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbe97a75a#ht_4254wt_1163

I know it is a limited run, but $300 for a model car is crazy talk.

Here's one for less from France:

ebay Item number: 390354371635

You may even find them cheaper at other online stores.
Then there's a chance someone may still produce a transkit ( for less $ ) for the Fujimi 911 GT3 RS. There were plans at least :-)

this thread has some good info in it. Would the slot car body be very hard to make fit on the Fujimi chassis?

try, even if I suspect I read the ceased the production of that article because they ended the cartograf decal sheet.
U may also try obtain the 997 RSR using the scaleauto slot body and fitting it over the fujimi kit.The fits is nearly perfect, only u have to change rims (imho they are horrible in fujimi box).scaleauto is for 25 euros on ebay.

Decaldoc makes a good alternative for the flying lizard cars printed in alps.

@jedi801:You may use the ScaleAuto RSR for slotracing, but the body´s dimensions are absolutely wrong if you want to build a model just for display. The Carrera RSR seems to have the best RSR body and fits on the Fujimi chassis very well

here it is Scaleauto body vs Fujimi body.I suggest this choiche only cause is much cheaper than but a complete slotracer.Down here in I cant find the carrera body alone.Have to buy the complete car.
U only have to open the bonnet air intake.

..that seems definitely too small. I still think is the overall look of the model and its setup with wheels that have to be convincing.

http://soldatino.multiply.com/photos/album/135/Comparazione_Porsche_997_GT3_RSR_scaleautoprofil24 _124_#

and when completed with decal artworks it looks convincing to me:

OK so for the interior and chassis I will go with the Fujimi GT3R.
http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ12390

For the body the Scaleauto slot car body.

For the wheels it looks like the Hobby Design GT3 wheels.
http://www.hlj.com/product/HYDHD03-0145

And for the decals, DecalDoc.

http://www.decaldoc.de/0000009f901261702/0000009bb00b1b102/0000009dc40cc1002/0000009f471496209.php

Is that it? It looks like the body will need to be modified a bit to be more accurate.

lovegt40

exactly. If u want a more precise body u must choose the Carrera digital, even if I am sure also with scaleauto u can have a decent replica anyway.

Is Profil24 the only company making a kit of this car?

Last October, Matt Wells (owner of Scale Motorsport) told me we is developing a transkit to do the 2011 Lizard cars. He even printed ads of this transkit in the Tamiya Model Magazine. You could send him a mail to ask him the status of his transkit.

Would the slot car body be very hard to make fit on the Fujimi chassis?

The Fujimi chassis need some adjustments to fit the Carrera body, but it is not too hard to do.

I have posted my WIP in this link:

I am using the Fujimi chassis and Carrera body.

I've heard rumors that Matthew at SMS is going to do a set. Can anyone confirm that?? I have just picked up the 2007 "Flying Lizard" SMS decals from Mac at Mac's Modeling. Hey for anyone here in The USA not familiar with Mac at Mac's Modeling give him a look - check out his website - prices and shipping is reasonable - he has a lot of hard things to find in stock and he can get anything you want he doesn't have in a couple of weeks. I have been shopping with him now for 2 years and I am very please with his prices and service. Never had a problem And he carries all auto sports - Bikes-F1-sportscars - and any other genre you might be interested in he can get, plus he is working on producing all his own AZRM products - - John

I didnt know about the PE parts, wheels from scale production, but if you count everything together(TK, fujimi kit + decal set) then price is about equal to a profil24 kit. Would you agree.

Yes Lesley, despite the P24 shape is not so accurate and the BBS from SP have no competitors. On the other hand, with the transkit a fair amount of surgery is required.

Hey guys - I received a email from David - he has asked me to explained that the 60 euro price was just a forecasted approximate price. He has told me that to produce a quality photo etch set and quality parts for the kit in Italy - the price would be higher than than of a cheap transkit, but he is hoping that he can keep the cost of the kit down to 45 euros for the kit worldwide. David is trying to keep the cost as low as possible without sacrificing quality. when you consider the price of the SP wheels the kit is more reasonable - This is an economic option to buying a slot car body which sells for 30-45 euro by the time you get it shipped to you. - John

As far as the extensive surgery goes - I have made these changes on a slot car body and a Fujimi body and it is not that difficult - so I expect the transkit to be a fairly simple task for the modelers on this forum. - John

Is there the possibility to sell the parts separately ? For example, divide the TK into three parts: the resin parts, the PE parts and the SP wheels. In this way the cost can be lower, and we have the choice to buy only the necessary. In my case, interest me only the resin parts. I already have the PE and the wheels.

A note from him - The decals are from Studio27. A bit undersized, they are also fragile and tend to crack; all the blues on this livery have been painted.
