After banging on the gas tank every now and then for the last two years to free up the fuel pump it finally gave out. Cost me $865.00 at the dealership, 2hr labor, 1 hr diag. plus fuel pump. This seems high to me, did I get jobbed?

Break down the parts and labor, 1hr seems high for a diagnosis which you did for them. A fuel pressure test takes 5 minutes, what else could they diagnose other than that and your description of what occurs.

Amazon has brand new AC Delco and Delphi pumps, (same thing the dealer installs). You can usually can find them for right around $200, sometimes even less. A couple of hours, (maybe three if you're a rookie) using regular tools and you're done. Or $865.00 you make the call ;)
