Acceptable temperature

I am wondering if any techs know what would be acceptable temperature going to to the ecm. I am getting a reading of 185 off of my reader. My thermostat was put in less then a year ago and by guage, reads just fine. It is a 195 F degree. 2000 Ford Escort 2.0 DOHC

I know I would need to verify actual temps, but have not the luxury for the short time. My question basically is if 185 is warm enough for the ecm to be satisfied as being a warm engine.

Welcome to AF!!

I am not a tech but 185 should be sufficient for the ecm. The car will operate within a range of temperatures and 185 is not out range. If it was 165 you may have problems but not 185.

Thanks. I was hoping and thinking that should be O.K..
I of course am not a tech either, but hope I can help out with some of my experiences too. I should have joined sooner.

On the flipside are temps occasionally creeping over 200 normal for this time of year? The Ultragauge I have set up on my '99 LX was making me nervous earlier this week when during a trip I had readings of almost 207 at times (don't recall seeing that during the summer). Still a long way from overheating but I still don't like to see it climbing like that.

185 is fine. 207 is likely fine as well. You've apparently monitored it during the Summer, at what temperature does your fan normally activate ?
