Trade two for something fun? How best to do this?

I currently own two vehicles and am wondering if I could trade these for something more fun. I also just got a new job and will need something more dependable.
1998 Jeep Wrangler 4cyl. 5spd all stock 122k miles (rear axle problems..fix for ~$800)
2001 Honda Accord EX auto with 225k miles. (Bad transmission, drives but needs to be rebuilt)
I'd like to pickup a VW Golf, Mazda3, Focus. Basically a 4 banger that is a manual and fun to drive. Open to suggestions. I don't want to spend more than 3-5k so going older is fine.
How should I handle this? Sell both on my own? Just trade them in. I'm thinking there must be a way I can do this on the cheap.
