2007 esscap just stops on hwy no aceleration

i was driving on the hwy and my truck just stopped working. it made a sound and jerked a bit then i couldnt accelerate...i pulled over to the side and turned the car off. when i tried to turn it back on nothing happened. it didnt turn over at all but the radio was still working...so there was power...so i turned off the radio and waited a bit tried again and nothing...there is gas in the car and i did notice a message just before it turned off saying something about 4 wheel drive...please help i am a singel mom working as a courier and need to have this fixed asap but dont want to get skrewd on the $...any idea what could be the issue...it is at the shop now...2007 ford escape limeted

so the shop just called and said it started for them...they are going to take it for a drive tomorrow and see if it stalls again...they said it may be a fuel pump issue
