HELP!>!>!>! engine light on dashboard is on

i have a 2002 Limited Edition T & C v6 van.
i just sunk 1.500.00 into a engine. My blew up... person before me, didn't change oil or take care of it. Now i helped my mechanic friend put in a new engine... all is running good the first 4 days.. and now the engine light on the dashboard is on... any idea what that could mean? i can't afford to keep sinking money in this vehicle... Fam of 7...

any help would be greatly appreciated. I am at work, and don't know if i should drive it home...

Go to your local Autozone or other parts store. They will connect a scanner and tell you what code is turning on the light for free. Let us know what the code is.

No parts store nearby? This sometimes works. Cycle the key from off to on (not start) three times leaving it on. The codes will be displayed on the odometer. Should see 4 digits preceded by a "P".
