Guys:

Just bought a used 2009 Camry LE with 4 liter engine. Have a question.... does they Camry have shoes or disc brakes in the rear?

Anyone have the procedures, tools, and equip needed to do a rear brake job, including removing the disc to resurface, on a 2009 Camry LE. Video would be best, but I'll take anything.

Thanks,

AJ

Fairly simple.

1) Jack up and secure.
2) Remove wheels.
3) Remove two bolts and slide brake caliper off of disc, set aside or hang to prevent kinking of hose.
4) Remove two larger bolts (torqued pretty good) to remove caliper mounting bracket.
5) Remove retaining clips from studs (if present).
6) Remove rotor and resurface, scuff, or replace.
7) Apply brake pad quieting compound to backing and set aside to cure.
8) Remove brake fluid reservoir cap and suck out some fluid.
9) Use c-clamp or caliper spreader to compress piston back into caliper body. This will push fluid back into reservoir.
10) Install new pads.
11) Reinstall rotor and retaining clips.
12) Reinstall mounting bracket and torque properly.
13) Reinstall caliper & torque properly.
14) Repeat for opposite side.
15) Reinstall wheels and torque lug nuts.
16) Drop the car and test the brakes to seat them.

Piece of cake. Good luck!
