1999 Jimmy Brakes go to the floorjimmyhat 10-13-2011, 05:57 AM I have a 1999 Jimmy that i bought a few weeks back. The brakes go all the way to the floor to stop and even then they are not full brakes. I changed the pads and the master cylinder. I am having the same issue. I did have the brakes bled by a friend but this did no good. They were bled the old school way not sure if you have to bleed a different way but any help. Thanks maxwedge 10-13-2011, 12:12 PM Are the rear brakes ok and adjusted properly( drums I assume). Also if the system was run out of brake fluid at one time the abs must be bled, that requires a high line scanner. jimmyhat 10-13-2011, 01:44 PM The rear brakes are disc, but when i first tried to bleed them the rear brakes didn't even work , there was alot of air in the system but from normal bleeding there is straight fluid coming out and there are no leaks. What is a high line scanner and can i do it myself or should i take it to a shop. Also the rear brakes are working now but the pedal goes all the way to the floor. When the truck is turned off though it will build pressure. FishFind 10-13-2011, 03:19 PM did you bench bleed the master cyl before you put it in http://autorepair.about.com/od/fixityourself/ss/MC_bench-bleed.htm maxwedge 10-13-2011, 06:37 PM did you bench bleed the master cyl before you put it in http://autorepair.about.com/od/fixityourself/ss/MC_bench-bleed.htm Good point I always assume everyone knows to do this, the abs must be bled with a scanner that can actuate the abs solenoids to purge trapped air.
