Engine clang

i have a 1999 alero 6 cyl that is making a loud clanging noise like a lifter is broken or a rod is ready to go. would there be anything that could have broken off and is bouncing around uder the intake manifold. the engine is not smokeing, the oil was very low.

That does not sound good. You could pull the valve covers and check that the rocker arms are all still where they are supposed to be.

we are in the process of doing that now, it sounds terminal:mad:
