Ok i need your opinion....Neutrino 05-31-2003, 01:53 AM this guy is argiun with me on the street racing forum i say that a better flowing exaust will help a turbo a lot and all over the rev range...not like in an NA motor in which a bigger exust will move your torque into the upper rev range.... he sais that i'm a moron i don't know what i'm talking about here is the link http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t106667-2.html his name is NSX-R-something i would like your opinion on this he also claims that exaust system upgrades will do nothing for the EVO killah_xft 05-31-2003, 06:58 AM umm, anything you do to help your engine breathe better will increase performance... as far as revs go, I don't believe that is true, the torque is definitly right though, mostly revs are increased by decreasing the moving weight on the motor (I.E. pulleys, crankshaft/s, and flywheels) those will give you the greatest rev acceleration increase from stock. a lancer EVO won't benifit from a higher flowing exhaust?? what is this guy smoking? I do admit however that exhausts are a minimal gain for any motor, adding from 6-12 HP depending on exhaust system, engine, intake, blah blah... but yes if your upgrade your exhaust you get better torque on both the lower end and at the higher revs (around 4000rpm) but don't quote me on this, this is just my knowledge from what i have read. Besides what's the sweetest sound that you can hear? a nicely tuned exhaust, on a fast car. I'm an N/A man myself, mostly because I could never afford a turbo kit for my car, nor would I see the need to. Plus theres nothing better than a purely tuned high reving machine to respond to you at will. PWMAN 05-31-2003, 05:44 PM Yeah that guy is just a moron Neutrino. Forget him, you are right. The more free-flowing the better for a turo app. Thats why people run 3'' straightpipe with turbos. Neutrino 05-31-2003, 06:27 PM Originally posted by PWMAN Yeah that guy is just a moron Neutrino. It spooled so fast, I almost jizzed...:D Polygon 06-01-2003, 02:18 PM The turbo is powered off the exhaust, so a more free flowing exhaust would be better. Getting more flow to the turbo with less resistance means a faster spool. He doesn't know what he is talking about, never has. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
