Hi! Looking for some help on steps to replacing a steering shaft on a 2001 Olds Silhouette. I've tried googling, to no avail.
There is a ton of play in the steering, and it's been determined that the problem is being caused by the steering shaft UV joint. I will be getting the part from a local salvage yard, so am trying to figure out the steps involved in removing and replacing this (to make sure I have the right tools, time, etc).

TIA for any info you can give!

If your talking the lower steering shaft (the one that connects to the steering gear), It's pretty much straight foreward. Access the upper and lower pinch bolts, seperate the shaft from the gear, then the column, remove shaft from under dash (you may have to get a little "persuasive" with the boot to pull out the shaft.
