98 camry door latch

Hi all,

I have a 98 camry LE, V6 with 267,000 miles. I recently passed it on to my 17 year old stepdaughter.

Miss gentle to everything (feel the sarcasm) promptly snapped the inside driver's side door latch. It doesn't feel like it's pulling anything inside. The outer door handle and the key & electric locking mechanisms all work fine.

How much of a Pain in the _ss is it to change out the inside driver's side lock mechanism. I am not a mechanic, but I am reasonably mechanically inclined (oil changes, have the basic tools, etc). I tried taking out the screw in the latch, but got nowhere beyond that and wasn't really in the mood to get deep into it that day.

Thanks!

IIRC, the latch is easily accessible once the door liner is removed. Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you a maintenance manual for your car. It will make life somewhat easier.
