not sure what to think.. problems 06 yukon

Im new to the forum and was wondering if someone here might be able to help... I just bought a used 06 Yukon 4x4 69980 mi. Had it for 5 days now.
The first issue is the drivers heated seat is comming on by its self. The second the low tire system is saying the right rear is low(4psi) and i checked it with a manual gauge and it reads 36 psi so its fine. Third the gas cap is reading loose every other day and its tight. Not sure if everything is happing at once and going bad or its a module going bad.. Anyone experience anything like this?

I seriously doubt it. For one thing, the heated seat is not through a module... It is strictly switches and relays. If it is staying on I would bet the switch is bad or the relay is sticky. As for the tire pressure monitor system you have two choices, ignore it or probably put a new sensor in. The sensors are known to go out, not only that at 70k miles it probably is on the second set of tires now... Tire shops can damage those sensors if they don't pay attention to them. The gas caps are also a known issue. It would be a cheap possibilty to just replace that one yourself and see if it fixes it. To answer you directly though, no I doubt it is just falling apart. As you said you have only had it 5 days. Probably had these problems, you are just really on edge to pick through it because you just bought it. Did you buy it from a dealer or a person? If it was a dealer bring it to their attention and ATLEAST they can get it diagnosed for you. If it has the 5 year 100000 on it, it will still be under warranty. If not atleast you should be able to get it diagnosed and make a descision to fix it or not.

We just bought an 04 a few months ago. Had a ton of miles on it, but a nice vehicle otherwise. It had a couple bugs here and there, but being a mechanic I fixed all them and spent like 30 bucks. These are nice vehicles and last too, don't get discouraged....

As for the tire pressure issue check the pressure of the other tires. If they were rotated and the sensors were not reprogrammed it will give the pressures for the last programmed locations.

We sold em too. Was in there today talking to a tech doing head gaskets on one right now. The Northstars are about phased out though aren't they?

@ Jyount. I was on a Cadillac team from 1999-2007, started in 94. Back to full product line now. Made good money on those 94-04 Caddys with engine and trans work. We would have a few head gasket jobs a week sometimes, all needing inserts. Fun! The thread pitch was changed from 11x1.50 to 11x2.00 in 2004 and that helped to prevent the threads pulling out problem. Not sure about the phase out. Still in DTS and STS.

Back on topic, the heated seat system in this Yukon is quite complex. The heated seat switches are momentary switches to the driver or passenger door modules. The door module communicates the heated seat request to the driver seat module via class 2 serial data communication. Then the driver seat module will switch voltage to the heater elements and
ground the appropriate control circuits for back only or back and cushion heating modes, and opens or closes the active control circuits as necessary in order to maintain the desired seat temperature.
One test you could try is unplugging the driver seat switch from the door module and see if the seat still turns on intermittently. If it stil comes on the switch is good. Best thing would be to have ALL of the modules scanned for DTC's. Especially the PCM for EVAP codes. You might get lucky with a new gas cap but be sure to have the code cleared so you know the code is gone. If the message comes back, a proper EVAP system performance test, and smoke test for leaks should be performed. If all of the tire pressures are good, they will need to be programmed to locate the faulty one. It may be the right rear but who knows since you just got the vehicle. I would recommend a dealership because they have all of the necessary means to program modules if needed. Although I make a living upselling other needed repairs and maint. needed, remember you do not have to buy anything recommended if you don't want to, just pay whatever the diagnostic fee is. I looked up the past GM history.. It looks like 3 of the 4 wheel sensors were replaced at 52000.. Maybe the 4th that was not replaced is acting up now.
The body control mod was reprogrammed at 52000 along with the engine control mod.

I will check on the repogramimg of the sensors to make sure they are to the correct wheel.

Also on top of the things i mentioned in the first post(sensor, heated switch, gas cap) the service engine light came on and stayed on, SO i'll have to see what that says.

It is likely the sensor is faulty. Reading back at your original post, I would think a tire with only 4 psi in it would be quite noticeable.
