I replace the rear brake pads with Duralast Gold. I compressed the piston to swing the caliper back in place. But as seen in the picture, it stopped on top of the bushing where the 12mm bolt suppose to screw in.
Can I tap the bushing in, and if so what should I use?

You shouldn't have to move the bushing to replace the caliper. Try prying the caliper instead. The pads are probably a little off center and need to be compressed in the right direction. Make sure you've put the shims in correctly with only a light coating of grease.

Hi Brian, I hope this other picture help explain. The pads are sitting flat against the disc, and the caliper has room for lateral movement. When I bring the caliper down, the bushing hangs out about a 1/16" preventing the bolt holes from lining up.
Can the bushing be tapped back - to the right in picture - so as to allow the holes to line up?
The Autozone sales guy told me I can tap it in, But I need a second opinion. Thank you

How did the bushing get displaced from where it was when the caliper was previously installed? If you can get the bushing to move by tapping it gently with a hammer, with or without a punch, then it should be fine. If you have to work on it, you better rethink the situation.

I tapped it lightly and it moved. Probably got stuck from old tried-up grease.
Anyway, I was able to replace the pads and everything is working fine.
Not bad, cost me only $54 for parts.
