Driver door only unlocks with key

I have a 2001 Grand Marquis. Last week the driver door stopped unlocking with the remote or the button. The only way to unlock it is with the key. The rest of the door work normal. I figured the lock solenoid went bad. The keypad was also not working so I purchased both and installed them. The keypad will lock the doors as will the remote and button but only the key in the door will unlock the drivers door. Any ideas. Could it be the door lock module only affecting the drivers door?

Did you replace the batteries in the remote yet?
Any local auto parts store can test your remote for free.

The remote unlocks all but the drivers door and locks them all so it is working.
The lock switch on the door does the same. Will lock but not unlock the drivers door. All of the other door locks work normal.

I am sorry, it does sound like a bad locking door solenoid.
Try resetting the door control module.

Check the master switch. You can take it out easily. Remove the switch, pull the rocking lever off, seperate the switch body. Remove the switch for the drivers window, Look at the contacts to see if there is any carbon built up on it. Remove the carbon and make the contacts shiny. Re assemble and see if it works.

Found the problem. There is a module inside the driver door panel below the speaker. It has 2 relays inside. The one that controlled the driver door was bad. I found a module at the salvage yard after 2 days of searching. The module for 2001 and 2002 is the same. Could only find a 2000 module. Installed it and all worked except the keypad. Am thinking the difference was the keypad. Will try to find a keypad for a 2000 to see if that works. Was able to program the remotes to the older module. All door buttons and the remotes are now working normally. The modules are no longer built and there are no new ones left in the US according to the dealership. Am keeking my eyes open for the correct module. I can always keep this one for a backup if I find the correct one. If you go to find one be sure to match up the part number on the module so you won't have the same problem I did. Also before you install it be sure to copy down the master key code on the front. You will need that to program your keypad. I left off the door panel and drove to the salvage yard so I could test the module before I paid for it. That way I knew what I was getting.
