97 buick lesabre limited ignition stuck at run but moves forward to start?????

I have a 1997 buick lesabre thats been an excellent vehicle until recent events.

It started out slowly giving me trouble starting. I would turn the key and nothing would happen. It seemed like a battery cable was loose there was no power to the radio/lights/etc. I'd turn the key off, try again and it would start.

As time went on the wait between not starting and starting got longer. I pulled in the driveway one day and went to turn the key to off and it would not move back from the run position but it will move forward to start. I made sure it was in park and finally had to pull the battery cables to shut it off.

I noticed my key is a little bowed and that the chip is loose. I also noticed alot of complaints about passlocks and was wondering if anyones every heard of this happening or knows any info on what the cause may be????

I plan to check all fuses, get a new key, See if it helps and go from there. :dunno:
