Passat 01 1.8L Tur low oil pressure light

Oil pressure light came on. changed out oil pressure switch and light still comes on. anyone else have this problem. I'm reading nightmare stories of oil pump and sludge in engine. second owner, 1st owner family member bought car brand new and always did full synthetic oil changes
