Rubbing noise inrearindyram 05-11-2011, 07:05 AM My wife has a 2001 grand caravan sport 3.3 and it has been making a grinding type of noise. I drove it briefly last night. It sounds like a warped rotor or a pad/caliper hanging up and rubbing. It is only noticeable when breaking. It doesn't have disc brakes in the rear however they are drums. I have not worked with drums much before. Any ideas what to look for or look at? The drums were replaced a couple years ago. Ryan Mark1950 05-11-2011, 02:20 PM Brake drums develop a ridge on the inside edge and my guess is what you are hearing is the inside edge of the brake shoe rubbing against that ridge – it’s more of an annoyance – but to check it out and fix it , you need to remove the drum and sand or grind that ridge down. indyram 05-12-2011, 10:05 AM Thanks I will take a look.
