2001 Escort ZX2 runs rough and stalls

Car has 200k+ miles on it. It had been running rough for awhile and a couple months ago it threw a CEL P0420. I didnt have $ for a new cat at that time so I waited. About a month ago I checked the codes again and this time it had the P0420 and P0102, still didnt have any money so nothing I could do. Yesterday I went ahead and replaced the cat. I know this may not have been bad at all but from the blue and purple coloring of it I could tell its been too hot and it was factory so if it wasnt due it was close. Anyway it didnt fix the problem and while changing it I had taken the Maf sensor out to look at it and forgot to plug it back in....I think not plugging it in caused the P0113 and P0171 codes it now also has but I noticed that with it unplugged it stalls a lot less than normal could this be my culprit? Is it worth buying a can of MAF Cleaner or should I just buy a new sensor?

You need to find out why the cat went bad in the first place

Have you ever changed the 02 sensor?? A lazy pre-cat 02 sensor can cause a P0420 code. The code does not necessarily mean a bad cat. I would clean MAF sensor, clear codes and see if and what codes return.
