Should Not the Dealer do it under 7 year warranty?

Unless you have damaged it somehow..

First, it's 3/36 bumper to bumper. Second, I bet the owner's manual will tell you.

all the owners manual has is to take it to the Dealer they want $100

called my body man the front bumper cover has to come off to be able to get to the screws that hold the light assy. in place

I don't believe that GM would be that stupid as to require removal of the bumper cover. Sounds totally absurd.

You don't own a 2010, changes made.

sorry to bring back an old thread but my daughter's 2010 Malibu has a headlight out and would like to know the easiest way to replace it. looked at it real quick and looks like to get to it may have to remove battery box...(driver side)....is that the way to go or do I indeed need to remove the bumper cover? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, looks like that's the way to go. They also have a video of a 7 yr old doing it.....Still looks to be a pretty stupid design and a lot of work for a headlight. I do my own work on my 2 BMW's and don't have to do this much for a simple fix....

Ah, for the want of a G6, bumper stays on.

Stepdaughter drives a 98 Mazda 626. To change a rear bulb, have to remove the entire tail light assembly to get to them.

It must be time for 2010 Malibu headlights to start burning out. My ex just had one go out and she just took it to Firestone and paid about $200 to have both replaced. Pulling off the bumper cover is not a complicated thing, but there are like 20 bolts and push pins that have to be removed.

Normally, you need to drop the front fascia. I found this video on youtube that might help:
