PWMAN 05-28-2003, 04:37 PM Originally posted by lordvektra you all say turbo but why turbo over super? what would be the downside of the supercharger? A supercharger takes away crank horsepower, thus making it less efficient. However, a centrifical SC has much better efficiency rated that a roots blower like the Jackson Racing one. Don't waste your time and money with Jackson blowers, they suck. Also, all you have to do is change the wastegate to up the PSI of a turbo, you have to change the pulley(big pain in the ass) on a supercharger. And lastly, you got the sweet whine of a turbo and the sound of a BOV to go with it - Good times, good times. PWMAN 05-28-2003, 04:43 PM Also, if you REALLY want a SC over a turbo, go to this site: www.procharger.com They have the biggest gains and are more reliable than a vortech blower. Plus they are intercooled, this is a major plus. You can get a air/liquid intercooler from vortech, but they are insanely expensive. Also, an air/air intercooler is maintenance free. The kit from Procharger is the best SC on the market for your GSR right now hands down. It gives you close to 300 HP on a stock engine, but just think, add a header, high flow cat, and a minimum of 2.5'' exhaust and you will be over 300 HP because the stock exhaust is pretty restrictive. lordvektra 05-28-2003, 05:41 PM yeah I was looking at a vortech. Chances are I wont throw in any more boost than what the kit does, I dont plan on putting a ton of money in this. maybe the super and H\E. so super still looks like it would be best for me in the long run. I went to the site and looked at the procharger kit around and really cant find anything with specs or prices only a picture of the kit. I requested a book but about how much is does procharger kit? ProShift 05-28-2003, 06:53 PM Where is a good place to get a turbo Jason_87 05-28-2003, 07:45 PM Originally posted by ProShift Which one should i get Turbo or SuperCharger i want more power and speed? wut do u guys think i should get I swear i have seen this topic b4 i n the last week, anyways I'd go Turbo, it takes longer to spool but will give you more speed in the long run.(I Think) _________________________ New To AF :flipa: PWMAN 05-28-2003, 09:13 PM Originally posted by lordvektra yeah I was looking at a vortech. The kit I'm talking about is 4000 dollars, I think the ''tuner'' kit is 3500 but I don't know what that consists of(like if it includes the intercooler). But whats the Vortech cost? Like 3500 without the intercooler isn't it? This is way better than the vortech kit. In the packet you receive in the mail you'll get more info than whats on their webpage. Like for example, their charger is good to 40 PSI - thats like insane. People use these same kits in their Pro street cars running pump gas!!! FourG63 97GST 05-29-2003, 12:36 AM S/C 4 banger suck balls IMO turbo no doubt to up the boost on a turbo, you turn a switch to up the boost on an roots S/C, you go out and buy a pulley you are fwd, turbo lag is your friend. you dont want full boost coming off the line. ProShift 05-29-2003, 12:38 AM how do i change the boost pressure ? Neutrino 05-29-2003, 02:31 AM Originally posted by ProShift how do i change the boost pressure ? on a turbo?...you have to be more specific in your questions..... wellll with a turbo you use a `boost controer....and btw the coolest is when you launch as low boost so you don't peel out and when you hit second you switch to high boost... PWMAN 05-29-2003, 10:42 AM Originally posted by FourG63 97GST you are fwd, turbo lag is your friend. you dont want full boost coming off the line. Centrifical blowers don't have full boost off the line, it's roots blowers like jackson racing that have full boost at about 3000 RPM. Centrificals have progressive boost, that is the higher the RPM the more boost you get. So if you launch at about 3000 RPM you are probably only making like 3 or 4PSI boost, it depends on how much you are running. Like if you got a pulley designed to get you like 20 PSI, then you will probably have 6 or 7 PSI at 3000 RPM. But only running the stock boost of the kit(9 PSI) then you will probably only make a couple PSI at less than 3000 RPM. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
