Can anyone tell me if the transmission of a 2002 Venture (equiped with a 3.4l V6) would fit in a 2000 Montana (with same motor) My transmission seems to have problems and I was offered a free transmission from a 2002 Venture..

Thanks.

These vans (including a 2000 Silo I had) all have the same engine and tranny so I don't see a problem.

As far as I know the drivetrains match and the only difference between them all is the trim.

What seems to be the problem with the original trans?

I get the P1811/hard shifting combo once it's warmed up... I tried the Seafoam trans tune followed with a filter & fluid change and it's still doing it. I have a transgo shift kit on the way which I want to try 1st (since it seems to help with this particular problem) but at that price (free), I'm considering changing the transmission. The owner tells me it was running A1 before the motor went on his Venture...

What do you mean by "different trim"?...

Thanks allot!

When I checked for a transmission at the recycler's, the guy asked me what model it was. He said there should be a metal plate with either "BCB" or "BRB" (or something close to that) on top of the trany... I couldn't see it by opening the hood. Anyone knows where to find this info? And can someone tell me what the difference is between the two? If not the same, are they still compatible?

Thanks.

Can't answer your last questions but by 'trim' I mean the way the outside/inside finishing work is different.

Eg. The Montana has cladding down the sides whereas the Silo and the Venture don't.

The grilles are different between them.

Different shaped adjustment control knobs, etc.

The Tag which lists the BCB or BRB is on the side of the transmission between the transmission and the firewall, closer to the passenger side of the van. You should find it if you look hard at the case of the transmission.

Thanks, found the tag but unfortunetly mine is a "BRB" and the other is "BCB"... I guess it's not the same (or is it)... Anyone knows the difference?

Transmission used is either a 4T60-E or a 4T65-E,,,,later model should be 4T65-E....the way the harness plugs in is different between the two,,,you should be able to look at each one to see the difference,,,,hard shift can be greatly reduced by removing the accumulators ,,,scotch brite scuffing the bores ,,,replace o-ring seals ,,,replace any broken internal springs,,,,,there may be VB problems also causing this condition but this action cures the problem about 90% of the time.........the hard shift does not mean the trans is about to fail,,,,more an annoyance...........
