02 with very loose brake cable

The parking brake cable on my 02 Ranger has, over time, gotten very slack, so much that the brake just barely grabs when i push the peddle to the floor. Ive checked the star gear adjustment and brake shoe thickness, and both are good.
Could be that this cable has stretched this much (approx. 5") and needs replacement? I see no means for adjustment.
Any ideas?

the cable should be adjustable, look at the midway point on drivers side
running along the frame.making sure the brakes are adjusted properly first.
then adjust the cable for e-brake.

Yea. On other models/cars you often see 12" of threaded rod that you can use to take up the slack, but no such rod exists along the whole cable.

if its non-adjustable then you need a new cable
just to be sure you have rear drum brakes???

I think your adjustment is in the car on the parking brake pedal assembly at the top where it pivots.

good point do you have thr ratchet type set up??
if so you need to pump the e-brake pedal for adjustment,
not sure they used them on the Ranger though...
