Half of HVAC lights out?

Hey everyone, '05 Malibu 2.2L base. I went to replace my factory radio with an aftermarket one and the appropriate harness...when I reconnected the negative to my battery, all the lights flashed, horn sounded once, and trunk popped. Everything worked fine except for the HVAC lights being out.

I re-installed the factory radio and everything worked fine except for the HVAC lights. While driving, MOST of the lights for the HVAC controls came back on...just not the recirculation and defrost.

Now I replaced my battery, and the only HVAC lights that are illuminated are the ones on the knobs and behind the right-most controls (vent, floor, etc).

Far as I know, fuses are okay...I'm baffled by this, as every other lighting system in the car works fine?

I'd appreciate any and all help!
