I have a pontiac montana sv6 i bought in october. The day I bought it I had to take it back because it kept dying on me. Message said starting disabled. The dealer of course fixed it. They replaced the throttle body sensor. Now in last month I am getting same thing. Just going down the road and it dies. Says starting disabled, service traction control, reduced engine power. Took it to dealer and they said there were no codes so they dont know whats wrong with it. So in other words, if no codes we are screwed. I dont even know if their were codes the day they repaired it the first time. There are no codes still as i took it to autozone to check what they said. It seems that once it hits normal temperature is when this starts happening. I have never noticed the check engine light coming on during any of this either. My husband said it did, but i am doubtful because there's no codes. In my online research this seems to be a known issue and not just with this vehicle. There also doesnt seem to be many answers. I hope someone can help me here.

Since you're getting a message of "Starting Disabled" I'd be looking more at the body control module or the Vehicle Anti-Theft System, both of which cannot be accessed by the consumer-grade scan tools like what Autozone uses. I'm not sure if the anti-theft system has the ability to kill the engine once it's running or if that only plays a role when trying to start the engine. The dealer should not have had any problem checking these systems though. If your Montana has OnStar you might need to check that module as well since one of the features of that system (at least nowadays) is the ability to kill the engine remotely.
Since your questions are pretty specific to the Montana I'm going to move this thread to the vehicle-specific forum though as regulars there will likely have more detail as to the specific "features" of this vehicle.

It has to get pretty hot before they kick on. How hot did he let it get?
