2001 Aurora rear brakesAColl 03-14-2011, 08:33 PM I have recently had the rear brakes on 2001 Aurora replaced. When car is driven about 20 minutes, there is a rubbing sound from the rear when the brakes are applied. I have taken the car back to the shop and they said for some reason the new pads were worn and put new pads on thinking it was bad pads. The noise continues. Is there anything special that must be done on this car when the rear brakes are serviced? Are there special type of brake pads that must be used for rear disc brakes? Any suggestions will be helpful. I am just going to sell the car if I can't figure out how to fix this problem soon. dondeere 03-15-2011, 05:17 AM I feel sorry for you mister. I would take you car somewhere else to get your brakes fixed. They missed something! 93pb 03-15-2011, 05:31 PM I feel sorry for you mister. This tool fits on the end of a socket and is square it goes over the rear caliper piston. You then have to turn it and the piston to reset the piston back into a zero clearance for the new pads to seat properly. If this is not performed the piston will not reset back to clear the new thickness of the new pads. AColl 03-16-2011, 12:19 PM I have had two sets of pads put on. The first set wore down within two weeks and now I am getting the same sound which makes me think the second set is worn. It is hard to figure because the roaring/grinding sound does not happen all the time. In fact when I have driven the car and try to get it to make that sound, it never does. Never had anything like this happen with a car. This is a good shop I have used to work on my cars for a couple of years now Always have been very reliable. I do not know the brand of pads used. Thanks everybody for your reaponses. I appreciate the help you have been. inafogg 03-16-2011, 01:57 PM it would be good to know if the pads are worn down again. if they are is it on both rear wheels or just one side. inspect the rotors for ''hot spots'' this would cause pads to wear prematurely but without seeing whats going its tough to diagnose 93pb 03-16-2011, 05:30 PM Just one question...the e-brake isn't dragging or inadvertently being left on is it?
